Marble Hill Ruins - Governor's Residence Redevelopment

The original building was gutted by fire in the summer of 1955. Stage 1 is now complete with Stage 2 (main residence) now underway.

Project type:
Residential

Project Features:

Having started our design work in 2012 the rebuilt ruin is now effectively sealed up for the first time since it was tragically burnt down in the 1955 fires. Windows have been re-born to  frame out panoramic views of the gulf and Adelaide Hills. What an incredible project to which we have dedicated our engineering services. And to think that some of the young apprentices such as carpenters, stone masons, and roofers have completed their full training while working on this one project! This is such an impressive (re)build and is well worth a visit to Marble Hill – make a day of it and enjoy some local Adelaide Hills wines and fine foods. #BookThemOut. • The rebuild is to return original splendour which will see the symbolic look-out tower and cupola rebuilt
  • Seismic strengthening is a key design aspect for the heavy stone building whilst retaining the heritage value of the building fabric
